The pool at Scott Hall Leisure Centre will re-open today - just in time for half term - after repair work to fix damage caused by gale force winds.
Staff were forced to close the pool just before Christmas after winds ripped away part of the roof.
Work on the roof has been carried out by Hart and Sumpner Ltd and has involved them doing a full roof recover, with new wood substrate and a glass reinforced plastic roofing system.
Coun Lucinda Yeadon, executive member for culture and skills, said: “It was very unfortunate the weather caused such bad damage at Scott Hall and I know lots of people living in the area have been really keen for it to reopen.”
Centre manager Sharon Gard added: “We’re really looking forward to welcoming people today just in time for some of the great activities we’ve got planned over half term.”
Activities at Scott Hall over the half term break include a Gyminis pre-school gymnastics taster sessions for children aged 1-4 on Wednesday, Feb 18.
There will also be go-karting for children aged 4-8 on Thursday, Feb 19 and a special Cybercastle bouncy castle for four to eight-year-olds on Friday, Feb 20.
