HUSBAND and wife team Nigel and Yvonne Callaghan are brewing up a celebratory storm to mark their 40 years as owners of the Coffee Shop Cafe at Pontefract Bus Station.

The Callaghans estimate they have served five million people and worked their way through a whopping 900,000 pints of milk over the last four decades.

Nigel said: “It does involve long hours and I guess that Yvonne and I have more than 260,000 between us. However, hearing customers telling us how much they enjoy calling in makes it all worthwhile.”

The Callaghans’ achievement was praised by Coun Keith Wakefield, chair of the West Yorkshire Combined Authority’s transport committee.

He said: “Thanks to their hard work and the warm welcome everyone receives, the Coffee Shop Cafe has become an institution.”
