The square has undergone a seaside town style makeover – complete with tons of sand, boardwalk decking, deck chairs and children’s fairground rides and stalls.
City Beach Leeds, which has been organised by International Funfairs in partnership with Leeds City Council, was opened to the public for the first time on Saturday. It will be open daily until Sunday, September 1.
The beach was unveiled by Leeds Mayor Coun Tom Murray and Coun Lucinda Yeadon, Leeds City Council’s executive member for leisure and skills. Coun Murray said: “I never thought I would be sat on a beach in Millennium Square – it is great.”
