It is a VW that has been off the road for a decade and now people are being given a chance to win it in a charity raffle.

Jonnie Crabtree, owner of Herbie Hospital, in Leeds, has spent his spare time restoring the car and this weekend he is giving the public a chance to win the 1972 Marathon Beetle by simply buying a raffle ticket.

Mr Crabtree will be at the VW Festival at Harewood House, Leeds, tomorrow, Saturday and Sunday with visitors able to buy a raffle ticket and the chance to drive away in a classic car.

“The car has been off the road for about ten years and we have just got it through an MOT this morning,” Mr Crabtree said yesterday.

Herbie Hospital, in Dolly Lane, is a classic VW restoration and repair garage and all the money raised will help the children’s charity Cash for Kids.
