Leeds taxis could be installed with digital ad screens

Have your say

Leeds licensing chiefs will tomorrow (Sept 9) debate new proposals for digital advertising screens to be fitted in the back of head restraints in the city’s taxis.

An application for the screens has been submitted by one of the city’s licensed Hackney Carriage firms.

However if the plan comes to fruition, every firm in the city could start using the screens.

Members of Leeds City Council’s senior licencing committee will debate the plans tomorrow. A report to be presented to the panel asks them to debate the idea.

If approval is given in principle, the new policy – along with proposed control measures to regulate it – will be forwarded to the council’s decision-making executive board.

The city’s existing corporate advertising policy for taxis regulates adverts that cover the whole of the vehicle.
