Leeds street party celebrates Thatcher death

Have your say

CELEBRATIONS broke out in Leeds city centre following the news of former Prime Minister Baroness Thatcher’s death.

A spontaneous street party was held in Dortmund Square outside the St John’s Centre immediately after the announcement on Monday.

A video taken of the small gathering by a passer-by showed a man with a megaphone shouting “Maggie, Maggie, Maggie - dead, dead, dead” and “If you still hate Thatcher clap your hands.”

A woman gave out ‘Maggie death cake’.

The former Prime Minister died peacefully on Monday morning, aged 87, at the Ritz Hotel after suffering a stroke.
