an irresponsible Leeds dog owner has been issued with a fixed penalty notice after she was caught letting her two animals foul in a public recreation area.
And the enforcement action in Pool-in-Wharefedale will send out a “strong message” about zero tolerance on the issue, it is hoped.
Local councillor Barry Anderson (Conservative, Adel and Wharfedale) said: “I am very pleased that this action has been taken.
“It is extremely important that people can use these public open spaces without fear of coming across dog foul.
“This sends a strong message out to all dog owners that action will be taken. It also shows that where members of the public are prepared to make a statement and act as witnesses, it will pay dividends.”
Coun Anderson has been working closely with Leeds City Council and Pool Parish Council to ensure that there are enough facilities for dog owners to dispose of waste correctly.
“There is absolutely no need for anyone not to clean up after their dogs,” he said.
