Policemen in period costume seen at Leeds viaduct during TV filming

Several actors dressed as policemen in old-fashioned uniforms were seen beneath the arches of the old Holbeck viaduct off Whitehall Road on Saturday.

John Malkovich and Rupert Grint spotted filming new Agatha Christie drama in LeedsIt hasn't been confirmed which TV production was being filmed - although one of the most likely possibilities is a new BBC adaptation of an Agatha Christie novel.

The 1930s-set Hercule Poirot mystery The ABC Murders, starring John Malkovich and Rupert Grint, is being filmed across Yorkshire this summer.

Leeds Town Hall, City Varieties, St John's Square in Wakefield, and Ripon Spa Baths have all been used as the backdrop for scenes so far.

Malkovich was spotted in character during the Wakefield shoot - although some Poirot fans were disappointed to see that the American actor was not sporting a prominent moustache, a distinguishing feature of the Belgian detective.

The mile-long Holbeck railway viaduct, which runs from Granary Wharf to the ring road at Farnley, was built in the 19th century but closed in 1988 and has been derelict ever since. Last summer plans were announced by the Holbeck Viaduct Project to bring back the structure back to life by turning the former railway line into a 'sky park' with bars, restaurants and shops in the arches below.
