POLICE are urging motorists to take extra care this morning as heavy fog and ice make for hazardous driving conditions.

A thick veil of fog is reducing visibility on the region’s roads for the Monday morning commute.

Officers are asking people to take extra time to de-ice vehicles and leave extra space between cars when on the road.

West Yorkshire Police tweeted: “Take extra care while driving today due to foggy conditions. Leave extra room between vehicles & fully de-ice windows before setting off.”

The weather is expected to lift later today.
