The motorway was closed down to allow the Yorkshire air ambulance to land.

The officers were taken to Leeds General Infirmary. They did not suffer serious injury and were kept in for observation.

The cause of the accident is being investigated, but it is believed there was a large amount of surface water on the motorway at the time.
