Detective Chief Inspector Mark Swift, of the Homicide and Major Enquiry Team, said: “We are conducting extensive enquiries to establish the motive for this offence and identify those responsible.

“Thankfully no-one was hurt but any discharge of a firearm is a serious matter and we have put measures in place to safeguard the occupants of the property.

“I understand that the nature of this incident may cause some concern in the wider community and would stress that this appears to be an isolated offence.

“We will have extra officers in the area to offer reassurance to local residents and would urge anyone with concerns to speak to them.
