Pugneys Country Park is closed this morning (Tuesday) due to an ongoing police incident.

A Wakefield Council spokeswoman said the site has been closed while the emergency services deal with the incident.

A West Yorkshire Police spokesman said: “Officers are in attendance at Pugneys Country Park in Wakefield as part of ongoing enquiries following a missing person report made earlier today (Tuesday) in relation to a 40-year-old local man who has not been seen since Friday, July 31).

“Pugneys has been temporarily closed while a thorough search is made of the area, including the deployment of an underwater search team from Humberside. The public are thanked for their patience during this time.”
