Police called after man approaches girl in Leeds park

POLICE are appealing for information after a man approached a teenage girl in a park in Otley yesterday.

The man, who was in a silver car, approached the 13-year-old girl who was with friends in the play area off Tealbeck Approach just after 3pm.

The girls were alarmed and ran off.

The man was described as white, aged in his sixties or seventies, with thick grey hair.

He was wearing a green jacket and drove a silver saloon car with a spoiler on the boot.

He was with a woman who was described as white, aged in her fifties or sixties, with short dark brown hair in a bob style.

Detective Sergeant Andy Cass, of Leeds District CID, said: “We would like to hear from anyone who saw this man or the vehicle in the area or who has any information that could assist the investigation.

“It is possible that there may be an explanation for what occurred and, if that was the case, I would appeal directly to the man involved to contact us.”

He added: “Officers from the local neighbourhood policing are increasing their patrols in the area to reassure the community.”
