Police bid to trace relatives of Leeds rough sleeper

Police are now trying to trace the relatives of a woman who was found dead under the 'Dark Arches' in Leeds after asking the public to help.

Rough sleeper, Fiona Watson, 56 was found last Monday morning on Neville Street and police had asked the public to come forward and help them identify her relatives.

They had a "huge" response from the public and are now trying to get in touch with her next of kin.

Det Insp Fiona Gaffney of Leeds District CID, said: “We received a huge response from the public after the appeal was shared on social media and have been passed information that has helped us to identify a number of her relatives. Work is currently ongoing to trace them and speak to them. We would like to thank everyone who assisted in sharing the appeal and who rang in with information that helped to identify them.”

The death of Fiona Watson, of Prosper Street, Hunslet, who also went by the surname Swan is not being treated as suspicious and the Coroner’s Office has been informed, added a police spokesperson.
