A swingers' club could be coming to Leeds as plans are submitted to convert an old warehouse into a 'discreet' members-only sex club.

The planning application, submitted to Leeds City Council, seeks approval to convert the use of the building on Ledgard Way, off Armley Road in Armley.

It would feature a bar with booths, saloon-style swing doors, showers, a jacuzzi and sauna, and the premises would provide a “discreet, clean, safe and controlled environment” for club members.

“What members have in common is a desire to explore their sexual desires, often alongside their partner,” applicants said.

“The most accurate general description would be ‘a swingers club’.”

While the club would have a bar, applicants stressed, members would bring their own drinks as alcohol would not be sold on site and drunkenness would be prohibited.

Entry fees would be charged, but payment for sexual services would be banned.

And, the applicants insist, while the club would close at midnight through the week and at 2am on Sunday mornings, members would be quiet and discreet.

“Given the nature of the proposed use, it is considered that the people whom frequent the premises will want to be discreet and not want to draw attention to themselves,” they said.

“It is unlikely the proposal would result in anti-social behaviour outside the premises.”

A previous application for a swingers club in Armley was refused in November.

This application, for a site on Station Way, drew six letters of objection from nearby residents, along with a petition signed by 30 people.

Neighbours expressed fears about noise, night-time crime, and “unacceptable” opening hours.
