A fundraising Yorkshire family, which has raised over £125,000 for breast cancer charities, has been recognised by royalty.

Mum Maureen Young and her daughters Sarah Pattinson and Kimberley O’Rourke were invited with their husbands to the royal garden party at Buckingham Palace to mark their achievements with the Pink Events charity on Saturday.

The charity was founded in 2005 by Sarah following Kimberley’s breast cancer diagnosis before Sarah and Maureen were both also diagnosed in 2009 and 2010.

Pink Events mainly raises funds for Leeds St James’s Hospital breast care unit and Cancer Research UK.

The next Pink event will be a ladies’ lunch at Headingley Golf Club on July 3 from 12noon. Visit pinkevents.org.uk for more.
