IT was a year when Leeds United put a long-overdue smile back on the faces of their fans.

The Whites might have just missed out on a top six spot in May but, on and off the pitch, they still provided plenty of reasons to be cheerful during 2017.

And, to celebrate the return of the feelgood factor to Elland Road, here are some of the Yorkshire Evening Post’s favourite United photos of last year.

From Kalvin Phillips’ smartly-taken goal against Ipswich Town to the jubilant scenes that followed Ezgjan Alioski’s strike at Nottingham Forest, they are all snapshots of a team and a club on the up.

Pontus Jansson and Pierre-Michel Lasogga also feature in our selection, along with one of United’s loyal army of fans.

Here’s to more good times in 2018 for the pride of Yorkshire football.
