The funeral of murdered schoolboy Irfan Wahid is taking place in Leeds today.

Family, friends and the wider community gathered at the Markazi Jamia Masjid Bilal mosque in Conway Road, Harehills, to pay their respects to the 16-year-old.

Irfan was found with a stab wound in Harehills Lane at around 3.45pm on Friday. He was taken to hospital but died a short time later.

A post-mortem examination confirmed the cause of death as a stab wound to the chest.

A 16-year-old boy, who cannot be named, is due to appear at Leeds Crown Court today (Feb 16) charged with murder and possession of a bladed article.

It has prompted a community knife amnesty and a vigil organised by young people, which is due to be held at the scene of the attack at 3pm today.
