THESE dramatic pictures show the damage caused after a car ploughed through a fence and into a Leeds primary school playground.
The Black Vauxhall Astra came off the road and careered through a wrought iron fence, smashing both the metal and the stone wall underneath - and leaving debris strewn across the play area.
The car dropped around 18 inches from the pavement and into the lowered play area of St Matthias Primary School in Burley, this morning.
Witness at the scene described how the car has come to rest on the hopscotch and other chalk game outlines.
One witness said: “The car has been very badly damaged.
“The suspension has collapsed and it looks like a write-off to me.”
It is not known if anyone was hurt.
West Yorkshire Police put up signs at the incident reading “Think! Parking here could endanger a child’s life”.
The police have been contacted for comment about the incident.
