Photo essay: Pumpkin festival has something for everyone

Farmer Copleys is hosting their annual pumpkin picking festival and it has every type of pumpkin imaginable.

Heather Copley said: “Literally everyone’s perfect pumpkin is here. People can come to pick pumpkins, carve pumpkins, eat pumpkins, all sorts of things.

It is the largest pumpkin festival in the UK, and it is in Pontefract of all places. I think that takes people by surprise sometimes when they hear it.

“We have all sorts of pumpkins, which is why I say everyone’s perfect pumpkin is here. They are all the sizes, shapes and colours that you can possibly imagine. We have white, blue, orange, green, red, black, warty, smooth, and even square pumpkins. We also serve pumpkin soup, pumpkin bread, pumpkin pie, pumpkin cake, anything you could want.”

The festival is open daily from 10am to 4pm through to October 31.
