A group of five local mums formed a committee tasked with raising money to replace the worn-out play equipment in the under-sevens area. They managed to collect £159,000 in donations from supporters and local businesses, which vastly exceeded their original target figure of £100,000.Some of the dilapidated equipment was 14 years old.

The playground closed on Bonfire Night and there have since been regular updates on the refurbishment work on the Friends' Facebook page.
