Wedding day joy for Leeds couple on bride's parents' anniversary

Charlotte Naylor and James Kennedy are due to tie the knot at St Peter's Church in Morley at 12pm on Saturday (Sept 5).

It is 33 years to the day since Charlotte's parents Diane and Francis Naylor of Morley were married at St John's Church in Farsley.

Charlotte, 30, and James Kennedy, 35, both swiped right on Tinder in October 2017 and went on a first date at The Calverley Arms in Calverley.

After James popped the question last May, Charlotte had the idea to plan the wedding on her parents' anniversary.

Charlotte said she wanted to keep the date in the family as her parents have a long and happy marriage.

Charlotte's parents' wedding, which was also featured in the YEP, was on her mother Diane's grandmother Ruby Turpin's 77th birthday.

The couple wanted to keep the date despite Covid-19 restrictions, which mean they have had to drastically cut back their original guest list of 90.

Current restrictions mean no more than a total of 30 people can be at the wedding and reception.

The couple are having their wedding reception at Wood Hall Hotel and Spa at Linton near Wetherby.

Charlotte said: "It has been really tough planning the wedding during Covid-19, but we are really thankful for all the support we have had from St Peter's Church, Wood Hall and our family and friends."

Charlotte, who works as an accountant at PricewaterhouseCoopers in Leeds, wanted to get married at St Peter's Church in Morley because she has been involved with The 2nd Churwell Brownies in Morley since she was eight-years-old.

She took over the role of Brown Owl from her mother Diane, who is now a Wise Owl and helps run the group.

James works as an outreach officer for Leeds Beckett University.

The couple are planning a nine-day road trip along the north coast of Cornwall after the wedding and hope to be able to go on a late honeymoon to Bali next May.
