Time to Shine recuits 100th age ambassador to make Leeds a great city to grow old in

Time to Shine has recruited its 100th Age Friendly Ambassador to help make Leeds a great city to grow old in.

The scheme, which was launched in early October, is run in partnership with Leeds City Council and the NHS in Leeds. Age Friendly Ambassadors are adults of any age who want to help promote the value and contribution of older people in Leeds in a variety of ways. Ambassadors can promote being Age Friendly within their workplace, sports team, place of worship and with family and friends.

Dr Anna Winfield, the 100th ambassador, said: “I feel it is my duty as a doctor in medicine for older people to be an advocate for the rights of my patients. Conversations with older patients reveal both fascinating details of the past, their contribution to society and stories about their varied lives. Ageism is not acceptable and as an ambassador I pledge to challenge ageism if encountered.”
