"We started taking the YEP and having it delivered each day. You read pieces in it you would never have thought about."

While husband John always turns straight to the sports pages, it is Wednesday's eight-page puzzles supplement, the picture of the day and the opinion pages that are among Mrs Richmond's favourites.

"No two people have the same opinion really," she said. "You need to hear other people's views, particularly at a time like this when you're not seeing as many people. You might not agree but it's good to think about it."

When it comes to having the paper delivered, they appreciate knowing it will be there each morning as they get ready to go about the day.

Mrs Richmond said: "It's just good to get every day and then you're not missing out on anything. It's reliable and actually the guy who delivers it to us is working with Haighs Bakers, so he also brings a loaf of bread twice a week!

"For some people reading online is fantastic, but there's nothing like holding the paper."
