The new live daytime programme was set to begin this spring - although an exact date had not been finalised - and was to be filmed at a new studio at Leeds Dock as part of Channel Four's relocation to the city.

The former BBC Breakfast host has now confirmed on Twitter that the show's launch has been brought forward and that it will be broadcast from her own home as access to the waterfront studio is restricted.

The Steph Show's original format was to include a live studio audience and a mixture of entertainment, lifestyle and current affairs content with guests from showbiz, politics and other fields. Co-hosts were also set to appear.

"Bit of a massive change of plan. We're launching The Steph Show next week, live from my front room. Joing me on weekdays from 12-1pm live. Full of stories/people to help us get through these strange times.

"The fancy studio we're building in Leeds is on hold while we get through these unusual times.

Channel Four have already begun moving staff to Leeds and teams are based in temporary offices near Wellington Street. Their are the anchor tenants of The Majestic, a former nightclub and bingo hall on City Square which is currently being renovated, and planned to occupy the space from June 2020.

Middlesbrough-born McGovern, 37, who had her first child at the end of 2019, is one of the biggest names associated with the project to relocate the broadcaster's headquarters to Leeds.
