Paul Davis, 44, is in Lanzarote after completing a training camp.
However, he is now hoping to head back to Manchester Airport on a Ryanair flight.
Paul, an engineer, told the Yorkshire Evening Post 'nothing had moved' for hours in the airport.
Pictures he provided show huge queues of passengers waiting to find out more information.
Paul said: "They’re locking the island down from midnight tomorrow.
"The Spanish are worst affected as nearly all internal flights are cancelled now.
"I’m flying RyanAir, friends on Jet2 and nothing’s really moving.
"Planes are boarding but then waiting two hours plus on the tarmac.
"You just feel helpless and there’s an air of resignation about it all."
