The festival, which takes place every year in Roundhay Park, had been due to take place in May this year before the Covid-19 pandemic saw it moved to September 26-27.

But now, organisers say they have been left with "no choice" but to postpone again - this time until May 8-9 2021.

A post on the 'North Leeds Food Festival 2020' Facebook page states they have found it "incredibly gutting" to postpone again, adding: "When we originally moved this date from May to September, we felt a glimmer of hope that this event may be able to take place.

"Unfortunately things just haven't unfolded kindly.

"It will not be possible to hold the event anywhere near the standards we require. Thus we're left with no choice but to move the event to May 8-9 2021."

And, as originally planned for this year, to mark the event's fifth anniversary, organisers hope to hold two events in Roundhay Park next year - one on May 8-9 and one on August 7-8.

The post said: "Yes... COVID won't stop our celebrations as we celebrate our 5th anniversary. They'll just be a little bit sweeter when they come."

All 2020 festival ticket holders are eligible for a refund by emailing [email protected], or tickets can be held onto for one of next year's events.

The post adds: "We'd like to say a quick thank you to all our partners, suppliers, chefs, musicians and staff for your patience and understanding as we have jiggled to try and make the events happen this year."

Thousands annually descend on the North Leeds Food Festival which hosts dozens of stalls to celebrate independent food producers as well as bars, live music and arts. It also raises money for charity and has raised over £18,000 so far for mental health charities.
