Josh White, 24, was walking his dog in The Golden Lion pub car park in Pudsey at around 9.30am when he spotted what he believed could have been a kangaroo.

The animal has a distinctive tail and appeared to be on their hind legs - with many social media users speculating the tail was in fact a twig in the distance.

However, Josh refuted this by posting more photographs showing the 'kangaroo' from a different angle.

Now, the local community has taken to Facebook to discuss what they believe the animal to be.

Josh, who owns White and Jones hair salon in Pudsey, told the Yorkshire Evening Post that many believe the photo shows a young fox.

Nevertheless, Josh said the way the animal moved and looked inspired him to take a quick snap.

He told the YEP: "I don’t know exactly what it was.

"People are saying a young fox which is most likely the case.

"I wish I was a bit closer and the zoom wasn’t so distorted.

"The tail is infact a tail.

"Lots of people are speculating it is a twig behind the animal.

"It definitely wasn’t."
