On Saturday and Sunday, many residents spotted what appeared to be a series of flashing lights travelling across the sky.

Some questioned if the lights were aliens, UFOs or planets.

One resident said: "I have never seen anything as bright in the sky!"

Another added: "No idea if they were planes, aliens or something else.

"I couldn't stop looking."

However, it is believed the lights seen by Leeds residents were from the Starlink satellite constellation.

The satellites - backed by US technology entrepreneur Elon Musk - were constructed by SpaceX.

The project is aimed at enhancing internet satellite access.

The satellites form a line of bright dots.

However, they can only occasionally be seen in the right conditions.
