Leeds East MP Richard Burgon says he is 'chuffed' after completing his challenge to quit alcohol for a year.

The Shadow Justice Secretary said he had originally intended to avoid alcohol for a couple of months, but extended the challenge after enjoying it.

Richard took to social media to share the achievement.

"I started off aiming to do a month or two but then enjoyed it so much I just carried on!

"As someone who loves real ale, it feels like quite an achievement. I recommend it!"

Richard's post was flooded with comments congratulating the MP for the achievement.
