The challenge was started by Leeds group co-founder Andy Wilson - named #itsokaytorun

Andy asked as many of the group members and friends and family to use their one exercise time a day to complete the 300km challenge.

Unbelievably, more than 250 people have signed up to join the challenge - using the Nike Run app to track their progress.

Andy told the Yorkshire Evening Post: "This challenge is aimed at everyone, not just men.

"All we ask is that people are sticking to the government guidelines around social distancing.

"So far we have had more than 250 people join the challenge on the Nike Run club app and there's still time for people to join.

"We have seen families taking part, people walking their dogs as part of the challenge and those who wish to run the 300km can do but we wanted a challenge that everyone could get involved with."

The aim of the challenge is to get people exercising during the lockdown period but also to communicate with as many people as possible to maintain good mental health.

Andy added: "This can be a tough time mentally for many people.

"We are engaging with people on the various Andysmanclub social media platforms and this is a great opportunity for people to stay connected whilst keeping fit and having a bit of fun as well despite the groups not running at the minute."
