Pass the parcel in Leeds for charity

The Lord Mayor of Leeds, councillor Jane Dowson, has thrown down the gauntlet to city businesses and challenged them to take part in a supersized version of the children’s favourite.

Companies taking part will raise funds for the Mayor’s chosen charity, Candlelighters - the charity dedicated to combating childhood cancer, leukaemia and serious blood disorders.

The event takes place on Thursday, September 28.

Leeds Pass the Parcel will be run by graduates from Leeds City Council and is just one of a series of events taking place to support the Lord Mayor’s Charity Appeal throughout September.

The Lord Mayor of Leeds said: “The charity Candlelighters is very close to my heart, so I’m delighted that this year’s graduates have put huge amounts of effort into coming up with an exciting and innovative fundraising event.

“I’m delighted to see that so many Leeds organisations are on board and supporting the cause.

“I’m proud to witness what is shaping up to be a city-wide collaborative approach to fundraising for such a wonderful charity like Candlelighters, that do so much for families facing childhood cancer here in Leeds.”

Prize donations for the event have been donated from a range of Leeds-based organisations including Leeds Grand Theatre, Trinity and White Rose Shopping Centres and the First Direct Arena.
