The Deltic Group, which owns the Pryzm nightclub on Woodhouse Lane, says the festive frivolities were just a continuation of the student and Halloween party nights.

Peter Marks, chief executive said: “We’ve seen a strong trading period in December, with total sales up 8.2 per cent on the previous year, and a record New Year’s Eve.

“This follows a fantastic student fresher’s season and Halloween. The strong performance was further aided by the refurbishment programme that continues to yield great results, and the focus on entertainment and premium service and products.”

Pryzm opened in Leeds in March 2014 and is one of the ‘Superclubs’ of the north. The Deltic Group has 10 clubs under the brand across the UK as well as Bar&Beyond, ATIK, Fiction, Cameo, Kuda, Vinyl.

Over Christmas the group recorded sales on a like-for-like basis up 8.2 per cent; pre-booked Christmas party bookings increased by 20 per cent; record New Year’s Eve with 76,500 admissions and total sales of £2.4m, up 2.6 per cent on performance last year.

The festive fizz was also in full flow with 10,000 bottles of Champagne and prosecco sold; £200,000 invested in headline DJs across 37 venues for New Year’s Eve and £36,500 raised for Deltic’s charity fund, The Echo Trust, in December
