Parents book holidays around Leeds’ Footloose Dance Academy’s summer school

A Leeds dance academy’s summer school is so popular some parents book their holidays around it.

Footloose Academy of Dance, Roundhay, is taking bookings for its latest summer school, from August 4-8, which this year will have a Charlie and the Chocolate Factory theme.

School principal Katie Bold said some parents booked their child’s place on the summer school in January.

“We have some kids returning for their ninth year and I took some bookings in January. It’s popular because it’s something creative for the children to do. It’s not just dance, drama and singing, it’s also arts and crafts and every child gets a good part in the end of week show on Friday.”

Footloose also runs dance classes throughout the year in ballet, tap, modern and freestyle, from tiny tots aged two up to adults. There is also an adult tap class and all-boys dancing classes, which are increasingly popular.

The summer school will take juniors from 10am-1pm and seniors from 1pm-4pm.
