Paralympic star ready to race in Leeds 10K

And the 20-year-old, who represented Great Britain at the 2012 London Paralympics, will be joined in the race by her fiancée Callum Hall, who was left paralysed after stepping on a sea urchin while diving off the Greek island of Skiathos in 2012.

Callum, 23, is now coached by former wheelchair athlete Ian Thompson. The couple live in Leeds.

Jade, who also represented England at the Commonwealth Games in Glasgow in 2014, was born with a disability and took up wheelchair racing following a visit to her Middlesbrough school by Tanni Grey-Thompson.

Jade said: “I am really looking forward to taking part in the Leeds 10K. It’s a great opportunity to compete alongside Callum. I’m sure there will be a bit of banter and it should be really good fun.”

Callum said: “The Leeds 10K has a great reputation and I know there’s always a great atmosphere. It will be a fantastic experience to race through the streets of my home city and I’m sure there will be lots of support.”

The Leeds 10K is celebrating its 10th anniversary and thousands of people will be on the start line.

Jade will be going for glory again, after winning the Leeds 10K wheelchair race in 2015.

The event is part of the lasting legacy of the late inspirational Jane Tomlinson CBE, who founded the charity road race in 2007 shortly before her untimely death. Tens of thousands of runners have raised millions for good causes across Leeds, Yorkshire and beyond.
