Paper boy, 15, dies three weeks after Mirfield cycle crash
A PAPERBOY who collided with a car as he cycled home from his morning round has died in hospital three weeks after the accident.
Declan Newsome, 15, from Mirfield, West Yorkshire, was seriously injured in the crash in Hopton Lane, Mirfield, and died on Monday Leeds General Infirmary.
Police are still appealing for witnesses to the incident at 7.37am on Monday July 9. It involved a silver Suzuki car.
It is thought that Declan was cycling behind the Suzuki shortly before the collision.
Officers yesterday made a fresh appeal for witnesses to come forward.
A police spokesman said: “Witnesses to the collision are being asked to contact police, especially other motorists in the area at the time who saw the Suzuki and the bicycle and how they were being driven and ridden along Hopton Avenue prior to the collision.”
