THE HOT, humid and stormy weekend didn’t stop an array of events across Leeds this week.

People took to Twitter and Facebook to share their thoughts and pictures of events at Temple Newsome, Bramley, Holbeck and at East End Park.

The annual hot air balloon festival took place at Temple Newsam on Friday, Saturday and Sunday.

It included live music as well as an array of colourful balloons.

Kelly Ramsden posted on Facebook: “Had a great time at this event, even the rain didn’t spoil the fun.”

Holbeck Gala may have seen its fair share of showers on Saturday, but the weather didn’t get in the way.

SlungLow @SlungLow tweeted: “The wonderful voice of Bianca Gerald being carried across Holbeck Gala lifting hearts and minds. Brilliant stuff.”

And Alan Lane @slunglowalan tweeted: “Boa constructor petting station, jerk chicken, tombolas as far as eye can see, football in a cage, singersongwriter in the rain #holbeckgala”

Bramley Carnival fared better on Sunday.

Anne M @meganner121 tweeted: “Enjoying the Blues Brothers here at Bramley Carnvial. Lovely day, feel good atmosphere.”

Tim Marshall @realtoadee tweeted: “Enjoying the sunshine at #bramleycarnival with @leedslibraries.”

A wet but cheerful crowd enjoyed Lark in the Park at East End Park on Saturday.

Hundreds attended the event, which is run by a partnership of different groups including Zest, Friends of East End Park, Leeds City Council, East North East Homes Leeds, Richmond Hill Elderly Action and Community Unity.

Maximum effort was put in by the Lord Mayor of Leeds, Coun David Congreve, who tweeted: “Lark in the Park, Holbeck Gala, Jamaican Society Annual ball, Leeds 10K and Bramley Carnvial - lots to keep me busy this weekend”
