A WEST Yorkshire man has appeared in court charged with the murder of a pensioner more than 20 years ago.

Stuart Jenkins, 39, of Ossett, spoke only to confirm his name and enter a not guilty plea during a short hearing at Northampton Crown Court.

The body of 76-year-old Arthur Brumhill was found in the basement of Denton’s pet and garden shop in Wellingborough Road on January 22 1993.

Jenkins was charged in May this year with his murder after officers from Northamptonshire Police reviewed the case.

He will next appear at court in December with a trial starting next spring.
