Why Storm Dennis could be Leeds' final warning in flooding battle - the YEP says
Here we go again.
Earlier this week the Yorkshire Evening Post warned of a sense of deja vu as Storm Ciara battered the city leaving many families and businesses fearful their homes, properties and memories would be once again destroyed by filthy flood water.
Last week Storm Ciara brought the city to the verge of flooding - and quite frankly we were lucky not to see a repeat of the disastrous Boxing Day floods of 2015.
But Leeds still has a shortfall of almost £25m to ensure it is properly protected as work on flood alleviation schemes continues. Why is this?
As homeowners and businesses batten down the hatches again hoping they will be unscathed by the weather there is a very real concern that as storms continue to roll in then eventually our city’s luck will run out.
