Yet there are still many questions that parents, teachers and unions need addressing around the ongoing risk of Covid-19.

At the weekend the Prime Minister said the Government intended to reopen for early years pupils, Reception, Year One and Year Six on June 1.

But that isn’t without its challenges for schools as they look to find the safest way to do so for their pupils and staff.

Council chiefs in Leeds have said it will leave the decision of restarting lessons to individual schools.

And today they have pledged not to fine parents who want to keep their children at home.

It comes as six primary schools will trial measures around social distancing. Among the proposals include streets being pedestrianised at key times to help children in and out of the playground.

But the biggest lesson of all will be looking at confidence.

Parents, pupils and teachers need to be absolutely certain it is safe to return back to the classroom - and that cannot be rushed.
