Today marks the publication of a long-anticipated review into the operation of the Managed Approach.

Since the pilot began in 2014, Holbeck has found itself thrust into the national spotlight.

The report found the approach to be “more effective” than any other model and states it must continue to evolve.

We can all have a view on whether we agree or disagree.

Clearly there are positives around supporting the women but it is important that the voices of those living in Holbeck are heard.

Almost 70 per cent of them told the authors that the approach should stay but with changes.

What really struck the review team though was the empathy shown for sex workers.

Discovering this about local people no doubt inspired the recommendation to promote the positives of life in Holbeck.

“There’s millions of really good things going on in Holbeck and the people are absolutely wonderful – that needs attention,” it adds.

And the report is right.
