Transport strategy is step in right direction - but campaign's battle continues - the YEP says

Those daily rituals may feel like a distant memory thanks to the dramatic changes to the way we are all living as a result of the pandemic, but they were a growing source of anger for readers when the Yorkshire Evening Post launched its Unlock the Gridlock campaign last January.
People told us they were fed up with the way a single crash could bring the entire road network grinding to a halt, while bus and rail services seemed to only get worse with each fare hike.

Hide AdIt was feedback such as this from our readers that led us to draw up five key transport priorities which we asked local and central government to act upon.
While the city council's draft Connecting Leeds Transport Strategy includes measures that have the potential to meet each of the priorities, our campaign will continue throughout the consultation process as we encourage everyone who lives and works in the city to share their views.
And once the final plan is published this summer, the YEP will be watching closely to see that the council delivers on the promises that it makes.
