The voluntary sector came into its own as a salvation to so many people who needed their aid - and who still require it today.

But now we simply must throw the third sector its own lifeline.

A stark report warns that two thirds of third sector organisations in Leeds said they may not be able to continue beyond the end of 2020 and a quarter are only likely to remain viable for three months or less.

And as a result of the crippling cost of the coronavirus crisis and funding fears, the third sector really is on the brink of collapse.

Today, the Yorkshire Evening Post is backing their plea for central Government to support a strategy for survival.

We have to fight for those who truly were the heroes of this pandemic - they were there when they were needed the most.

And now they need our help.
