We cannot criticise the Chinese for following our example - YEP letters

There has been a lot of publicity about the current and future use of Huawei equipment in telecommunications equipment.

The possibility of it being secretly used by the Chinese Government for covert surveillance is a genuine concern. However before we get worked up about Chinese surveillance we may want to take a trip on the A59 from Harrogate to Skipton and see the large “golf balls” at Menwith Hill.

As part of the 5 Eyes system we collaborate with the American, Canadian, Australian and New Zealand governments to harvest electronic data from the ground, the sea and space around the globe on an industrial scale.

The information gained provides military, political and commercial information. I suggest that we cannot critcise the Chinese for following our example. Far better to put the resources to constructive purposes, building bridges of understanding and peace.
