Time for Bradford to emerge from shadow of Leeds – Yorkshire Post Letters

AS a returning reader, I have gained the impression that Bradford gets far less coverage than most cities. True, it seems we have little positive news coming out of our city.

Your report (The Yorkshire Post, May 28) should be a concern to those that lead Bradford, displaying our inability to attract inward foreign investment.

Several Yorkshire cities are mentioned but not the second most populous with, as we are constantly told, the youngest population.

The following day you featured the city’s vain pursuit of the City of Culture gong, talked up by a Leeds lad, brought in to lead us to glory.

He talked of our “independent and collaborative spirit” and our “radical edge with social justice and community power at the forefront”. I have rarely read such utter baloney.

Ordinary Bradfordians do not give a stuff about this nonsense, but would prefer to see real jobs arriving instead of having to travel to Leeds and beyond.

PLEASE reassure me that Bradford Council leader Susan Hinchcliffe does not intend to stand to be West Yorkshire’s metro mayor. She can’t run her own authority competently.
