Confidence is the real test for going back to school - the YEP says

That’s the warning from Simon McCarthy, the executive principal for primary education for GORSE.

It comes just weeks before parents look set to see their children return to school.

For so many families they have faced uncertain times after the country went into lockdown.

Their children were parted from their classmates and teachers as parents faced the challenge of homeschooling.

During that time the city’s teaching resource network has been absolutely crucial to offer that support - but youngsters have missed out social and emotional milestones.

The Department for Education has issued guidance to schools on how best to welcome pupils back next month.

But we need to appreciate that each school and each family have their own different circumstances.

And the real test will be ensuring that schools and parents have the confidence in the system.
