Hailed by Theresa May, the former Prime Minister, amongst others for their sportsmanship, their ‘can do’ spirit has helped to inspire this county for the past decade.

And it is typical of his ingenuity that Alistair, the double Olympic champion, had the foresight to install a swimming pool in his garage earlier this year to guard against the possibility of any Covid-19 lockdown.

Swimming against a jet of fast-flowing water might be unglamorous – but it might, ultimately, be the difference between winning, and losing, an Olympic gold medal in Tokyo next summer.

Yet the fact that he is going to such lengths – no pun intended – to improvise brings new meaning to the timeless adage ‘where there’s a will, there’s a way’.

It’s called the Brownlee way.
