LeedsBID, the Business Improvement District, has a focus of creating and attracting events in the city which add to the overall experience people have when visiting, and encourages them to sample and savour its vibrant cultural diversity.

As the city centre events calendar gains momentum, the Leeds International Festival takes centre stage from April 28- May 12 2018.

Leeds International Festival is the UK’s leading metropolitan festival of new ideas and innovation, created by LeedsBID in collaboration with businesses and cultural organisations to provide a platform to showcase the city’s home-grown talent alongside international acts and world-class events.

The festival is a programme of compelling speakers, original performances and discussions that celebrate innovations in science, music, interactive media and world culture.

It boasts more than 50 events over 15 days including a number taking place in the very distinctive Leeds International Festival Spiegeltent, located on Millennium Square.

The spiegeltent is part of The Village, a new giant cultural hub in the heart of the city centre combining cycling, music, art and animation as the Tour de Yorkshire Fourth Edition and Leeds International Festival come together from Saturday April 28 to Sunday May 6 2018.

Leeds International Festival reflects the wide and vibrant cultural DNA of this city. From children’s art events, a celluloid celebration of the sacrifice and glory of Leeds Rhinos, a talk exploring the ethics of sex robots and a trip into space with the first Briton to go into orbit Helen Sharman, to the reincarnation of Leeds’ long-lost KAOS night at Warehouse, the playtesting of a brand new interactive adventure, specially curated for the city, a performance from the UK’s only ensemble of blind and visually impaired musicians and the editor of Vogue presenting the M&S archive for a special exhibition in its Briggate store. There is something for everyone!
