Louis returned to the classroom to surprise pupils at a number of schools across Leeds to discuss how he managed to turn his own ambitions into a success story. During his visit, he gave youngsters a special insight into how gymnastics allowed him to change his life and manage the difficulties he had with ADHD (attention deficit hyperactivity disorder) while he was at school.
Speaking to the YEP about the event during one of his visits, Louis said: “The day is going very well, it has been really good fun, I love talking to kids.
“My one bit of advice to children today is if you have got a goal or target, it is important to enjoy going for it.

“Enjoy everything you are doing at a young age. Gymnastics has opened up so many doors for me and my goal was always to be the best gymnast I can be and to try and be the best in the world. I am still living that dream.
“I grew up in a pretty rough council estate in Peterborough but I like to encourage children to exploit the opportunities they do have and give themselves a better life.”
Christopher Dyson, head at Parklands Primary School in Seacroft, said: “The day has gone fantastically well.

“Seacroft estate does not always get the best press.

“But having real life superstars coming in and giving their time and effort really helps to give inspiration to children.”
As part of the project, Louis worked alongside Calbee UK to support the Make the Grade programme, delivered by Ahead Partnership. The initiative is designed to bring together schools and employers.
