Office pets provide stress relief for Leeds firm

A Garforth business has appointed two '˜office dogs' after its managing director decided to take her rescue pets to work.

Pru and Jasper accompany HR180 Ltd boss Claire Morley-Jones every day - and the canine pair have proved to be effective stress busters at the human resources consultancy.

Claire and her husband Jon adopted Jasper, a Belgian Malinois whippet cross who had failed the tests to become a drugs sniffer dog, and Welsh springer spaniel Pru after their previous dog died. The company is now raising money for the Dogs Trust, which re-homed them both from the charity’s Leeds base.

“The working day can be quite stressful for us and our clients, as we deal with things like company restructuring and employment issues, but they help put everyone at ease. They are always a talking point!” said Claire, whose family also includes two-year-old twins Amber and Euan.

“There are 14 of us and Pru and Jasper give us all so much joy every day, we wanted to give something back to help those dogs who are still waiting to find their perfect home.”

The HR180 Ltd staff are taking part in the Paws in the Park sponsored walk at Temple Newsam this weekend in aid of the York Road adoption centre where Claire and Jon first spotted their pets. Ten-year-old Jasper had had four previous homes after being rejected for security duties. They added Pru to their family after Jasper became so lonely that the couple could not leave the house together.

“They get on brilliantly and deserve all the love and joy life has to offer. They may not get paid a salary but they get lots of treats and cuddles and there are always lots of people eager to take them for a walk,” added Claire.
